Look to See is a collaborative show that combines ceramic forms and calligraphic marks to convey thoughts on the environment, global warming, and climate change. The exhibition’s intent is to spark a dialogue about nature, engage the community, and draw attention to the relationship between humans and the natural world.

Look to See embodies the subtlety of nature, the beauty nature holds, and the delicate details only seen upon close examination. It is a series of nine thin porcelain papers with gentle marks, some forming elusive shapes; some revealing words. Looking closely, fingerprints can be seen that reference the veins of a leaf. This piece illuminates the marks in the translucent material and draws parallel to nature’s nuances. The paper is pinned like specimens presented for study and arranged in a grid pattern for the viewer to investigate.

Spiral, wheel-thrown and altered porcelain, glazed, white gold luster, 45 dishes average size 4.5” x 4.5” x 1”, overall 55” x 48” x 2” (2019)
Spiral, consists of forty-five triangle dishes arranged in a spiral on the wall. Like a nautilus shell and referencing the Fibonacci sequence, the spiral is used in many works throughout the show. From the smallest petal to hurricanes to galaxies, spirals are designed with this sequence making a direct connection to the spiral. The grid and the spiral are used to reference nature’s organization and patterns.
